In the past thirteen years, I have learned the most important element to a successful experience is communication between therapist and patient. I listen to my clients and I apply skills in a variety of techniques to facilitate healing. I am trained in Deep Tissue and Therapeutic Massage, Trigger Point Release, Myofascial Release, Pre and Post-Natal Massage, Shiatsu, and Swedish techniques.
When I earned my certificate from Irene’s Myomassology Institute in Southfield, MI., I knew I was changing my life for the better, but I can honestly say the most rewarding part has been helping others to feel their best and transform their lives. I can’t imagine being in any other career.
This work is my passion.
I am Amanda: friend, wife, mother, obsessive learner, essential oil fanatic, book fiend and massage therapist. I’m in love with Michigan and working on muscles. I have taken a special interest in anatomy, myofascial release and neuromuscular therapy.
I started my college path as a nurse, which led to some very awesome Anatomy and Physiology courses, including cadaver lab! The universe led me down a different path and I graduated in 2009 from Eastern Michigan University with a Bachelors degree in Communications. After trying a few different related fields and never feeling satisfied, I finally sat down and thought about what I really wanted to do. I had received a really amazing massage from a family friend and she opened my eyes to what body work could really be. I was all in from there! I quit my sales job and went to massage school. The Ann Arbor Institute of Massage Therapy was a very in-depth and well rounded year of schooling. After graduating, I was asked to come back and be a teaching assistant as well. I continued work with AAIMT until they closed.
I took some time off after the school closed so I could have my daughter. Shortly before her first birthday I started working at a chiropractic office and was able to quickly brush up on my skills and realize exactly where I wanted my practice to go. My specialties/passions are deep hip and pelvis work, low back pain management, ocular (yes, eyeballs!), intra-oral TMJ work, forearms and hands, as well as facial massage. While I was in school I always dreamed of working to help people’s bodies get better, and here we are! What can I help you get accomplished?
